Creating Templates and Global Areas

Creating Templates and Global Areas Overview

Welcome to our tutorial on "Templates and Globals". Today, we'll explore how these tools can streamline your website building process, ensuring consistency and efficiency.

Imagine you've designed a header you're particularly proud of, and you want to use it across multiple pages. Instead of recreating it each time, you can save it. Hover over the section you want to save, and you'll see an option to "save section". Here, you have two choices: save as a template or as a global section.

A template allows you to reuse a design on different pages. It's like a blueprint; you can make changes to it on one page without affecting its instances on other pages.

On the other hand, a global section is interconnected. Any changes you make to a global section on one page will automatically reflect on every page where that global section is used. This is especially useful for elements like headers or footers that you want to remain consistent across your site.

Let's dive into a practical example. Say you've created a header with a logo and a specific background. If you save this header as a global section named "header", you can easily drag and drop it onto any new page you create. If later on, you decide to change the logo in this global header, the logo will update on every page where this global header is present.

Now, if you've designed a specific section with a headline and an image and you save it as a template, you can use this design on any page. However, any edits you make to this template on one page won't affect its appearance on other pages.

The beauty of these tools is in their flexibility. If you're building a new page and need a section you've previously designed, simply go to "Add section", choose from "My layouts", and drag in the template or global section you need.

For instance, if you've saved a section as "headline and photo", you can easily drag it onto any page, ensuring design consistency without the need to start from scratch. This is especially handy when you're building out multiple pages or funnels. It saves time, ensures consistency, and allows for quick updates.

In summary, templates and globals are powerful tools in your website building arsenal. Templates offer reusable designs for individual pages, while globals ensure consistent design across your entire site. By leveraging these tools, you can create professional, cohesive, and easily updatable websites.
